Balance Bike

For Gus’ 2nd birthday we purchased this balance bike. It was a little on the spency side, but that boy is on the bike at least 6 hours out of the day – I’m not joking. So, I feel as though it was completely worth it, from a cost-per-usage standpoint.
I mean, check out that face…seriously.

This is not a review.

  2. Whatever Dee-Dee wants :
My husband really wants to get a balance bike for my son. They look really fun.

love that photo! we made a balance bike for my daughter by simply taking the pedals (and training wheels) off her first bike. it paid off, because this weekend she rode a "big kid" bike for the first time and then proceeded to go ride the whole mile to grandma's the same day!

They're very popular here in europe! I don't ever recall seeing a child with training wheels, it's seems like a much better way to teach a child to ride - and ride earlier! (I didn't take my training wheels off until I was in kindergarten!) Our 17mo old daughter will get one has soon as she can sit on one and touch the ground!

Oh that binky just kills me. Love it! My girlfriend got her 18 month old on one of these bikes w/out pedals and I thought she was nutso. Now he's 3 1/2 and riding motocross. Um, seriously. Like he competes. With real motorcycles. Well, he must be different than average, but what I'm saying is, these things really are great. I will be getting one for Cenzo for his 2nd B-day. No plans for motorized in his future. I like them all intact.

p.s. he is wearing his moc's all around and I can't believe the comments we get.

my husband is into the pricy kid bikes too, but i've learned that they sell for a lot on craigslist. in fact, this time around we bought a nice bike off craigslist and i have a feeling i will be able to see it for nearly as much as i paid for it in a couple of years...

I've never heard of these before, thanks, now I know what kind of first bike our wee man will be getting. I can convince my husband about the price with the balance argument if it helps get him motorized. The sooner he can buy him a Peewee 50 the better he reckons (unrealized dreams of racing motorcross)... I'm hoping our wee man is drawn to sports that are less mumma worrying, but...

What a cutie! I love that he is still sportn'the bink! I bet it gives him great balance on that bike too! (just like the shoes that make you run fast :)

In their description, they say it's for three to six-year-olds. Do think it's totally fine for a two-year-old too? I'm now thinking of getting this or something like it for my little man for his 2nd birthday.
