Kid-Painted Postcards

watercolorpostcards ()

My kids love painting with watercolors. It’s really one of my favorite activities to do with them too because the projects always turn out beautiful, and it’s an easy clean-up. I thought, why not share the love and turn my kid’s masterpieces into something that others can enjoy as well! That’s when I thought to turn them into postcards to send to cousins, grandma, grandpa, and anyone else we could think of! My kids loved the idea (especially my 4 year old who LOVES mail), and we got to work.

Supplies:

-watercolors (the Crayola Washable Watercolors set our favorite because the colors are so vibrant)

-paint brushes

-watercolor paper (like this, but any brand that is thick will work…you just don’t want it to dry wrinkly)

-scissors

-cup of water

Simply give your kids a piece of paper, water, and paint brushes and let them have at it. Show them that they can blend the colors by using the water. When they’re done and the painting is dry, cut out post card size rectangles, 3.5″x5″-4.35″-6″. Use a pen to make the usual post card markings (see picture). Help your child write a short note to the recipient on the left side, address it on the right, slap a stamp on it, and mail it off!

The person you send it to will be so excited to see your child’s beautiful artwork!
