The first detail of the kids room that I want to talk about is the white curtains that I made out of a flat sheet for both the window + the closet doors.
Curtains out of flat sheets are great because most of the frustrating + hard work of curtain work is done – seams + hemming. If you utilize the sheet correctly, you should only have to do a small amount of unpicking + two hems. Easy + fast, just how I like them…my projects that is.
Start with a flat sheet.
Fold in half length wise.
Cut down your fold.
If the big hem at the top of the sheet is sew shut on the end, unpick the end of the sheet about 2 inches across + 2 inches down.
Fold the hem into itself, leaving an opening. Finish your hem across + down. Make sure to leave your opening.
One edge, the bottom + the top should be finished. For the raw edge, iron down 1/4 inch.
Turn + press another 1/4 inch.
Using a 1/4 inch stich, sew your raw edge closed. Iron + hang.
Yesterday morning I was on a Studio 5 sharing this very tutorial + I also included a no sew option!
i've made your mama skirt about 50 times now.
thanks for sharing this one!
