Freshly Picked Christmas 101, Part 2

Sometimes our work/life balance leans more towards spending a LOT of time working. This is especially true around the holidays, so the goal this year is to maximize festiveness and minimize stress. I’m guessing there are other people who feel the same way, so I’ll be sharing a few of my (super simple, easy peasy) ideas over the next few days. The goal is big impact and fun for kiddos. We’re getting back to basics…Christmas trees and Santa hats.  It’s Christmas 101!

I met a girl once who told me she came up with the idea for these little trees, but the fact that my grandma made them in kindergarten makes me think that girl was a bit confused.

There are, admittedly, a lot of steps to this project, but at least it’s just the same one over and over.  So grab a magazine (you need a thick one like Reader’s Digest or National Geographic…find them for cheap at thrift stores), pop in a festive movie, and fold until you’re done! Spray paint the edges, if you want. Then feel free to go around telling everyone you came up with it.

I remember making these when I was a little girl. We made them from Reader's Digest magazines and I think they were spray painted gold and used as part of the centerpieces for an event at our church. I recall being impressed at how glamorous they looked (I believe a small red glass ball topped each little gold tree) and how transformed the magazines were. That they had become these golden Christmas trees seemed kind of amazing. Thanks for sharing this technique!
